Owen William Dunbar arrived July 7 at 6:03 pm.  He weighs 7 pounds, 7 oz and is 21 inches long.  He already has great sideburns (see photo).  He also has managed to pee on his dad and the panda photo on his nursery wall (no photo).  He’s a cutie and we’re very excited!

Seth informed me over the weekend that he will be painting the nursery in the next 4 weeks with or without my input.  I think since we won’t know Baboo’s identity by that point, we’ll just paint it black.  Maybe put some glow-in-the-dark-stars on the ceiling?  It’ll be AWESOME.

All the craziness of football camp, then 2-a-day practices, then teacher in-service, and eventually school itself starts the second week of August so he’s right in saying his “summer” ends in 4 weeks.  Of course, he’ll still be in classes during this whole time and since he leaves at 6:45 AM and gets back after 7 pm, it’s not like he’s got plenty of time to be painting anyway.   But in any case, the real issue is that Baboo’s room is currently my office/incredibly messy repository of all things.   We are going to make the downstairs bedroom a combo guest room/office so we have to consolidate and move essential office things downstairs.  For anyone who has spent any time with me, you know that I don’t like to throw anything away.  (Again, thank you, Sheils!)  Miraculously, we did manage to throw away quite a bit of the accumulated stuff last evening and we moved 2 pieces of “furniture” out of the room.  Slowly but surely, we might make enough room for a crib, etc. 

It does always feel good to throw stuff away– who needs files of grocery coupons that expired in 2005 anyway??
