So I had my 2nd to last weekend call for the academic year last weekend. This involves seeing lots of patients with GI problems like liver failure, doing endoscopic procedures on people with bleeding ulcers, and fielding phone calls from patients about their bowel prep for colonoscopy (do I have to drink the whole gallon? Yes)
I didn’t get to church for Palm Sunday because I was working, but I did get a collection of palm fronds from a nurse and a few visitors. One was niftily shaped into a cross and the others were just long. Not the easiest things to carry around, but they look pretty nice on my desk.
N.B. The academic year for medicine runs from July 1-June 30. Try to avoid the hospital on July 1. Trust me, you don’t want to be there unless absolutely necessary.
