The farm boy and the priss

June 20, 2007

I’m probably not going to get Seth to talk even semi-seriously about names until after we know whether Baboo is a boy or girl.   I’m having fun in the meantime checking out the websites– although I must admit I’m getting the biggest kick out of analyzing our own names.

One site has “personality traits” for each name.  Check this out:

Seth–Seth is viewed as a strong, quiet farm boy or outdoorsman who is intelligent, hardworking, and reliable.

Emily–Most people picture Emily as a cute, small, quiet, old-fashioned woman who is intelligent, frail, loving, and a bit prissy.

What do you think???

  1. Oh my. What website is this? I definitely want to check it out. You’re not exactly ‘prissy’, nor do I think of you as frail or old-fashioned. I wonder what they’d say about a name like Hester (which does sound old-fashioned and prissy)?

  2. Well, Kerry, I’m glad you asked:
“Hester is described as an ugly, old-fashioned, straitlaced, old farm woman–a teacher or grandmother, perhaps.”

  3. So, I looked up Molly and this is what it says, “pretty, plump, dark-haired girl who is perky, down to earth, and very likable.” I’d say that’s about right, especially right now in her chunky monkey stage!
